Offer Nissim: not only an icon, but a legend12 May / 11:26H
Offer Nissim is, without doubt, the most legendary dj and producer from Israel at this moment. Since 1993 and up to the present his activity within electronic music has turned him into an icon amongst the gay audience, and no less should be expected regarding his constant presence at the best prides and festivals all around the world, which always has people talking about his sets where his best hits have been played for decades.
Offer has moved from being a child who used to play music for his neighbours in Tel Aviv to fill up football stadiums by his own, as well as collaborating with big pop music stars such as Madonna, who still continues to act with offer´s remixes, Christina Aguilera or Jennifer López. Furthermore, he can take pride of being the one and only dj coming from the gay circuit that has appeared in the Top 100 of DJ Mag Magazine, in fact he has been there for 4 consecutive years (2006, 2007, 2008 y 2009)ranked as number 19, 56, 51 y 43 respectively.
His first experience as a dj was in 1979, he was given the opportunity to play music at a local gay club in Tel Aviv when he was only 15 years old. People liked him, so from then on he started frequenting various clubs in Israel where his music adapted perfectly to the musical tastes of the audience. It was in 1993 when he introduced himself to the world formally as Offer Nissim, it was also the year in which he produced a disc for Dana Internacional, the famous Israeli singer with whom Israel won Eurovision festival in 1998 with the song ‘Diva’:
2004 was also an important year for Offer as he met the Austrian Peter Rauhofer, another big artist also a gay icon and Grammy award winner, who offered Offer to participate in his label “Star 69” after having listened to his previous productions, which left him with his mouth wide open. Since then, they performed together in various parties such as New York`s ‘Black Party’, or the legendary Roxy Club closing party.
During that year he also met Maya Simantov, which would be the main voice in all of his productions. They got along perfectly from the first moment and together they´ve achieved many successes with big hits as for example ‘Everybody Needs a Man’, ‘Alone’, ‘Miracle’, ‘Let Me Live’, ‘Be My Boyfriend’, ‘First Time’ amongst many others.
At this point the Israeli has a really impressive track record, with 11 albums, more than 140 tracks and more than 70 official remixes produced for great names such as, for instance, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Dana International, Beyonce or Christina Aguilera.
Next Saturday 1st of July he will be present in the Matrix Gay Week with the World Pride Madrid in a new edition of Infinita, where last year he already was the headliner and he left us with a very good taste in the mouth. The Israeli will arrive directly from Tel Aviv´s pride to La Cubierta de Leganés, where the crowd will be prepared to embrace him while listening to his music with the best sound and the best staging.
